Age Rating:

Motion control and interaction with SolidWorks mechanical CAD software.
(64 Bit systems only at the moment)

This plug-in for SolidWorks will allow zooming, panning and rotation of the model view. Settings can be easily adjusted from the Task Bar to customize the sensitivity.

Fast Motion Mode Activation With the Keyboard

The desired type of motion is activated by pressing a key on the keyboard and moving the hand above the Leap Motion device. The settings allow the key mapping to be changed so that any key can trigger motion. Just be sure that the key is not already mapped to a SolidWorks keyboard shortcut (these can be changed through the SolidWorks Menu customization.)

Supported Motion

Zooming, Spinning, Panning and rotation can all be accomplished with this add-in.

Sensitivity

The sensitivity of the Zoom, Pan and Spin and Rotate can be adjusted over a wide range.

Parts, Assemblies and Drawings

Leap Motion integration is supported for part, assembly and drawing documents.

What's New

Version 1.0.5

Added setting control for cursor transparency

v1.0.4

Fixed bugs with shutdown
Added check for multiple application instances
Added rotation sensitivity setting

I feel that this is a good start to a plug-in that many engineers have been waiting for. The control so far is smooth and responsive. I appreciate the adjustable sensitivity The need for a key to be depressed to enable a specific movement distracts from your CAD work. I originally purchased the leap motion unit as a replacement to a SpaceMouse for CAD and plug-ins are just finally coming out. I look forward to updates to this SolidWorks plug-in with expanded capabilities and ease of use.

Works well for its intended purpose. Zoom, pan, spin & rotate all seem to run pretty smooth even with large assemblies with the real view graphics turned on. For me, it runs the most fluidly when all five fingers are extended. It would be nice to have the ability to change the transparency or even turn off the finger tip indicators in the settings menu.
